Floor Lamp Round Up and Winter Decorating

Continuing with the theme of round ups (you can check out the Table Lamp Round Up here), this week I’m sharing a floor lamp round up. I ordered another plant on a whim (oops!) and also because it is so gray in January in Michigan. Stems and Monday mornings at Trader Joe’s are small pick-me-ups for winter weather. And, while I’m not ready to share the entire living room just yet, I thought I’d share a cute corner complete with old, really old, new, traditional, and modern.

Living Room Corner

Living Room Corner Decor

Let’s start with the living room corner! I’ve been in the mood for adding some modern black accents somewhere in the house and this corner was just the place for it. (I may now have the bug though, so stay tuned for more black accents scattered throughout the house.)

I bought the vase from The Counting House. A eucalyptus sprig seemed like perfect little green touch. You can see the new (ish) traditional table lamp next to it and, fittingly, Eddie Ross’ Modern Mix under it.

The vignette sits on my grandmother’s marble table. My family grew up two doors down from my Bumble. She had six grandchildren in all. As she aged, she wanted each of us to choose a marble top table from her and my grandfather’s collection. She then took a piece of tape, wrote our names, and stuck them under the tables. I still have the tape with my name in her handwriting on the table. Needless to say, this is a very special little corner.

I was able to move the marble table from our bedroom downstairs and create this little corner because our floor lamp needed to move from there to the side of the sectional. I have to say that I really do love it in its new position in the room. I did quite a bit of searching for the perfect floor lamp even before I knew it would end up going so well with the sofa. I’ve included some of the options I found in the Floor Lamp Round Up below. I love that the lamp we ended up with is 54 inches tall. It seems like a really great height for our particular sectional and room. Just something to keep in mind if you are shopping for a floor lamp.

A New Plant

I know that I already have too many plants in our house. My new excuse, though, is that I will be bringing some of the plants to the Beach Cabin in just a few short (okay loooong) months. I ordered a Monstera plant and can’t wait for it to arrive! I was very inspired by the airbnb we stayed in last fall in Traverse City. (You can read about it here.)

Stems

I hadn’t been to Trader Joe’s in almost a year, and it was honestly so nice to go back last week! I headed straight to the store after dropping the kids off at school. The employees are always so friendly and I spent more time in the plant and stems area than I should have. The garland is usually one of the last items to be put away after the holiday season at our house, and I love to use this time to bring in some tulips, eucalyptus, etc. to keep the green and cozy feeling alive.

That’s all for now! As I mentioned in the last post, we are looking into quotes for the exterior painting of the Beach Cabin. One quote came back and it seemed reasonable, so I’m allowing myself to get a little excited about the prospect!! Be sure to follow along on my Pinterest Board to see how the color pallette keeps evolving.
