A Thanksgiving Table for 4 (and More)

Welcome to Mackinaw Road! On the agenda for today … A Thanksgiving Table for 4, Shopping the Sales, Shopping Local, and (finally!) a color scheme for Christmas 2020.

I wasn’t planning to decorate our table for Thanksgiving, but then I ended up putting together a minimal table and it might be my favorite one yet. I’m taking notes for next year when we can host again!

I used the flowers a friend had given me the week before from a local florist. Just because. It seriously brightened my day! The flowers even look good a little dried out- perfect for a Thanksgiving Table.

I picked up on the rust tones from the arrangement by incorporating some rust-colored napkins. And, of course, I went out to our yard and grabbed some dried hydrangeas as well as the last of the mint and rosemary from our raised garden.

I still love our seeded eucalyptus garland. It will be staying out into the Christmas season. Our linen tablecloth has seen better days but is getting new life draped down the center of the table. Stains hidden. My nana’s candlesticks with the black tapers add a bit of drama.

We got away this weekend to a town a few hours north, and it was delightful! We had zero plans and just relaxed and enjoyed our family of 4. Some more. I’ll give you all of the details in a post later this week but couldn’t wait to share a little sneak peak of our stay at this lovely house. It provided so much inspiration for our house and the Beach Cabin!

I feel like the days and weeks after Thanksgiving are “go time” for me! I’ve been holding off on decorating for Christmas, as I do. Then, I realized that there are maybe only three weeks between Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day- yikes! I have bought a few gifts and have a list of notes for other ideas. I also keep referring to the Gift Guides (for Him, Her, School-Aged Kids, & Toddlers) that I shared with you a couple of weeks ago. I will definitely be keeping my eyes out for sales this week and into next. I’ll share them on Instagram Stories and in the Like to Know It app as I notice them. One thing that I’ve made a habit of lately is putting items into my online cart. Then, most times, they are there when there is a sale. I just have to enter the sale code and hit the purchase button.

As I do throughout the year, I also plan to shop local this year. These adorable Christmas mice from The Counting House are already in the gift corner of the bedroom waiting for my niece and nephew to open them. We also recently gave my father-in-law a subscription to a local coffee company (Schuil Coffee)- he will get ground coffee delivered right to his doorstep for months to come!

Speaking of local, I purchased two decorative resin trees (also from The Counting House) for the mantle! I know that maybe doesn’t seem all that exciting, but they were just what I needed to help focus my Christmas Decorating Plan for 2020. (You can check them out here.) I also conducted a poll for color scheme ideas over on Instagram. Luckily, the winner (Green and Wood Tones) was one of my top choices! (I also was loving the idea of a Merlot and Blush color theme- you know a little wine toast to 2020 being almost over.)

Okay, that’s it for now! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!
