Our Living Room is one of those rooms that is constantly evolving. We ordered a corner sectional back in September, and it arrived over the holiday break! That, of course, led to moving our very heavy sleeper sofa out, painting the wall behind the bookcases, removing bookcases, re-hangning the drapes, moving my grandmother’s marble table from our bedroom downstairs, moving the coffee table out and bringing two cubes in, and adding another lighting source when we took our Christmas tree down. Whew! I can’t wait to show you photos once our frames come in and we hang them on our blank wall. So, May 2021. Hopefully, sooner. In the meantime, I’ll share our lighting, including some options I considered. This fall, we purchased this lovely living room floor lamp. It landed in the corner by the clock. We also had two additional floor lamps flanking the sofa. With the switch to a sectional, we ended up relocating the sofa lamps and moving the corner lamp to one side of the sectional. This left us with very little light once the Christmas tree was taken down. So, I started searching for table lamps. I narrowed it down to this lamp and this one. Ultimately, because I had splurged on the frames (more on that later), I ended up going with this lamp. The price point was perfect, and it still feels high end to me. The switch is even on a dimmer, which makes for good mood lighting and a calming atmosphere. Here are some additional table lamp options that I considered.

Speaking of great price points for luxe-looking items, I purchased two cubes to serve as an ottoman. Because everything else in the room is fairly dark and moody, I felt like I needed something a bit lighter to break it up. The cubes were just the solution! Online, they look to have a white base, but in reality, they have more of a linen look, which I love since we are constantly resting our feet on them. The cubes go in and out of stock, but if you set an alert, you may be able to snag one. Be ready to purchase, though. I bought mine and about 5 minutes later when a friend looked, they were gone. Here are some of the pieces (both old and new) in our Living Room currently.

I’ve been listening to More than One Thing by Athena Calderone, author of Cook Beautiful and Live Beautiful, entertaining expert, blogger, interior designer, stylist, recipe developer, etc, etc. You get the idea. In this podcast, Athena interviews creatives about their journeys, and all of their multi-hyphenates. It is both intriguing and encouraging. Athena’s peaceful demeanor and thoughtful questions make this podcast one that I look forward to each week.

Open Door, a series by Architectural Digest has been my latest binge. On Open Door, celebrities invite Architectural Digest for a tour of their homes. From California cool to charming New York brownstones, every home provides inspiration.

That’s it for now! I hope to be back later this week to share a nursery from 2019! The babies are now toddlers (stop time, please!), as well as projects past (2020) and projects future (2021). Oh, and also photos of our living room! It’s coming together and I can’t wait to share it.

Thanks for being here and Happy New Year!!!
