Mackinaw Road March Updates
Although March isn’t quite over, now seems like a good time for a blog post. March updates include a book, a game, floor registers, an Instagram wall sconce winner, cute spring shoes, and a chair that is equally beautiful and functional in our home.

March Updates: Beautiful Upholstered Chair
Let’s start with the chair. While I continue to debate new living room chairs, I just purchased this beautiful chair for our dining room. It is oh-so-soft and the perfect place to have a morning cup of coffee in semi-quiet while the kids watch their shows in the living room.
March Updates: Spring Finds
I came across these fun spring shoes. I love the green and yellow accents. Perfect for spring! (I linked some additional fun spring finds below.)
March Updates: March Madness Sconce Winner
A recent Instagram March madness bracket involving 16 sconces from this post was super fun. This sleek, vintage inspired swing arm sconce was the overall winner. Two would look lovely flanking a bed or sofa.
March Updates: Floor Registers
Our floor registers are looking a little worse for wear. I came up with three possible solutions. One, I could attempt to sand and spray paint them again. Two, I could attempt to soak, scrape, sand them back to natural. Or three, I could purchase new floor registers. Of course, option three would appear to be the easiest. However, living in an old house continues to make seemingly easy things, harder haha. The registers are not typical sizes such that big box stores do not carry them. I found some that I loved at Signature Hardware that are both beautiful and an investment. As such, I first tried to spray paint our registers again. I think I like that they are closer to the color of the floor. I do worry about them getting scuffed up quickly. Our son told me that he liked the one in the dining room but the register in the kitchen didn’t turn out well. I agree. I ordered this floor register to try before funding an entire house full. My neighbor also messaged a fabulous local option, which involves sandblasting and powder coating. Stay tuned! This riveting floor register saga is far from over.
March Updates: Mancala
Our son came home from a game day at school requesting that we purchase Mancala. I had no idea how to play but was able to catch on quickly. This is a great, quick game that also allows room for chatting about other things like how your kids’ day was, etc.
March Updates: Book
I just read That Last Thing He Told Me. This was a fast-paced and suspenseful read. The prose was beautiful and there were quite a few quotes that were meaningful both in and out of the story. A fun aside, the book is being turned into a limited series Apple TV + show with Jennifer Garner.
