October Updates

Michigan in October

What a beautiful month October was! Michigan really showed off her colors despite the constant weather mood changes. Updates this month include a book, an anorak jacket, boot options, a new duvet cover, an (almost) updated kitchen table, top performers for the month, and a review of October blog posts. (Not in that order.)

Fall Clothes

We have been busy with lots and lots of soccer and tennis this month. On a weekend soccer trip, I will ill prepared/ forgot how the wind whips in the Chicago area. A quick trip to Target had me feeling cozy and warm. This jacket is an absolute favorite! I will likely be wearing it from now until May. I also really like the boots I purchased. They remind me of this high end version. My sister owns this pair, and I am jealous. Last year, I purchased these winter boots from the same brand, and they are my favorite winter boot. This pair is in my closet for a slightly more polished look.

New Bedding

Crate & Barrel Bedding

Our bedroom situation mayyyyy quickly be turning into an entire room refresh? Why does that always happen- lol. It started with new ceiling lighting. Then, some throw pillows. And now a new duvet cover and shams. I could not pass up this amazing deal (over $100 off) on Crate & Barrel bedding. I am waiting on a sham to come this week, but here is a sneak peak… I think that Crew approves.

Progress on the Concrete Table

DIY Concrete Table Progress

Gretchen and I started our DIY concrete table refresh. Above is a progress shot before the sealer went on. A full blog post is coming soon with all of the details. Needless to say, I love it already. It seems to go with the slightly Scandinavian vibe we now have in this space. I love the rattan light (on sale) and the chairs. (Here and here  and here are some similar finds under $200, which is really good for this style of chair). Now to avoid the inkling forming in my brain that I want to paint the gray wood portions of our chairs black. It really is never-ending.

October Book

I recently joined the Book of the Month club. My first book was Jacqueline in Paris by Ann Mah. The book is about our First Lady before she was known as such was so charming. It is about her college year abroad studying in Paris post World War II. The history, emotions, and sense of wonder it evoked were well worth the read. It even had an element of suspense. As a person who enjoys historical fiction, I really appreciated the author’s notes at the end specifying exactly which parts were fact and which were fiction. She also provided great resources should the reader be interested in doing a deeper dive.

October Updates: LTK

October LTK Top Performers

This month’s LTK Top Performers are some of my absolute favorites. The jacket is mentioned above and I can’t say enough good things about it. It comes with several color options too. The boots (also mentioned above) are lovely and so easy to slide on. They are perfect for everyday use. Another favorite was the city coat. It has such a timeless look, and I appreciate the higher neck for keeping cold fall and winter winds at bay. I can see why the duvet cover made the list. It is a classic yet versatile item, and the price is just so good! It is slightly embarrassing how often I wear these joggers. They are the most comfortable pants I can remember owning. I will definitely be asking for another pair for Christmas. Finally, this flush balm is everything it claims to be. I have been loving switching out my powders for more creamy products.
