Mackinaw Road Monday: Fall Mantel Sneak Peek, Masks, and More

Hello! And Hello Fall. I usually treat September like summer, but the weather is making that almost impossible this year. The Lake is higher and wavier than its usual still-as-glass September water. So, this Mackinaw Road Monday has a little summer and a whole lot of fall in it. I’m showing you a Fall Mantel Sneak Peak, a clever way to store and display Masks, and More.

I have shared some sneak peeks of our entryway all wallpapered on Instagram and will be going into greater detail on the blog shortly, including the prepwork that I was able to complete (with a lot of guidance) prior to my sweet friend’s mom wallpapering the area. I just need to style it… and am dragging my feet because I am hesitant to put a nail in the lovely wallpaper.

Mask Organization | Peg Rail

Our daughter may end up being the most DIY handy of us all! She found a peg rail in the garage and asked if she could paint it for her masks in her room. We mixed together some of the house paint from the storage room to create just the right color, and she set to work painting. I think it turned out super cute! We’ve been lucky to have a grandmother and a neighbor friend who have gifted us such lovely masks. We’ve also tried out (and liked) these and these and these for the kids. All of the Beachy Vintage Bedroom sources can be found in this post.

Speaking of Target, Threshold designed with Studio McGee launched their fall collection last weekend. It is soooo good! While a lot of it is sold out, they do restock some items, so it is worth signing up for the email notifications when items are back in stock. At least, that is what I found with their summer collection. (You can see the pillows I snagged here.) I have my eye on this ottoman, this art print, and this lamp. They would also be great additions to the Fall Mantel!

Fall Mantel | Living Room Mantel

I have started to work on the fall mantel and can’t wait to share it with you next week. In the meantime, here is a portion of what I’m working on. I dug out some old decorations, bought a few new, and incorporated some gifts from family, including one of the Indian blocks stamps from my sister and brother-in-law and the M block from my brother-in-law’s mom when we went on a group tour of an apple orchard here in Michigan. I have no idea where the vase came from, but I think it works perfectly! Side note: Can you believe the rubber plant?!?! She is my favorite! Seriously, I’ve never gotten along with a plant (indoors or out) so well. She looks beautiful in the turned leg planter. I switched out the frames on this sweet personalized artwork of the kids and our old dog. (Yes, our new dog looks exactly like him.) You can find the frame in various sizes here. (Side note, I kept our customized mat with the artwork and took the mat that came with the frame out.)

Okay, that’s all for now. I hope to be back next week with the full fall mantel and living room tour. And some apple recipes that we love- because apple season in Michigan makes the transition to autumn even more fun! Oh, and I’m aware that it isn’t Monday, but the potential alliteration was too much for me to pass up and once I have something written, I have trouble sitting on it. Have a great weekend, everyone!
