Mackinaw Road Monday: Outdoor Living

Outdoor Living

Hi there! July 4th may unofficially mark the halfway point of summer, but there is still plenty of warm weather and outdoor living to be had here in Michigan. I will argue always that September is the best month. But, before I get ahead of myself, let’s talk about outdoor spaces, beach accessories, Barbados, and a fun summer drink.

With Michigan going back to a Phase 2, we are starting to consider that the kids may not be going back to school in the fall. Even if they do return, there will likely be weeks that they are home and online. This has me pinning and dreaming of a soaking pool and a backyard full of pretty flowers. While I recognize this is all a pipe dream, it has been fun to browse Pinterest and see all of the beautiful landscaping and creative pool set ups. You can check out what I’ve been loving here.

The BEST Summer Cocktail Recipe! #cocktails

Now more than ever, we are all spending a lot of time outside- I love it! Last year, Kate from Living Lark, and I met at the beach cabin and she helped create a signature drink for the summer. I am still loving it this summer. It’s especially good if you love a little ginger and a little sourness in your cocktails. You can find the recipe here.

I recently purchased this cooler backpack for R for Father’s Day. It contains 2 coolers (one for the kids and one for the adults OR one for snacks and one for juice boxes/LaCroix) and is so much easier to carry down to the beach! I would highly recommend it. It’s crazy how something so little can make life so much easier. (If I would have known how much I was going to use a beach cooler backpack, I may have considered this one, too.) On the same note, this beach umbrella is super light, easy to carry, and has been wonderful for these fabulous hot summer days.

Serena and Lily is having a summer tent sale. This lamp would be perfect for brightening up a space. I also like these sycamore baskets for a refreshing and beachy vignette. These planters are a cute trio for summer but would also work year round. This wallpaper would be so cute for a child’s room or at a cottage. (You also can never go wrong with grasscloth! I like the natural color but the burnt orange could be fun in the right space too.) Speaking of kids’ rooms, there are so many cute crib sheets, including this one and this one and this one. And these gingham hooded towels are adorable and a great price!

And just to plan WAY ahead… this article from Apartment Therapy was so interesting. Getting to spend a year working remotely from Barbados?!?! Outdoor living in February? Yes please!!!

Have a great week everyone!
