Spring Break Beach Vacation
When you live north, going south almost becomes essential when March and April come around. I can’t wait! So, without further ado, here is what I am packing for our Spring Break Beach Vacation.

Admittedly, I often forget what I have and like to wear in warm weather after living my best hibernation life for 5 months. A lot of what I will pull out is old and spring break is a great trial to see if anything needs replacing or if I’m good to go for the warmer months ahead. But, to give a general overview and possible links/new outfits to try, keep reading.

Spring Break Beach Vacation: Swimsuits
I like to mix and match and bring a variety of swimsuits since that is basically what we live in on Spring Break. I have and love a cutout one piece swimsuit. It’s sort of the best of both worlds. I like this classic look and also this one (perfect for the summer holiday weekends!). I will also be bringing my black suit; just like you need a LBD, a black swimsuit is also a wardrobe staple. I like this one– anything with scallops is always a good idea.
Also recently resurrected is my Boden swimsuit. It has held up amazingly well throughout the years and it was the one that got the compliments last spring break. Here are some current Boden suits that caught my eye this year… This one feels simple and elegant. I love the color combination in this one. And this one feels so vibe-y!
Some of my suits over the years have had a classic stripe- it’s truly something that never goes out of style. I like this Ralph Lauren suit, this Kate Spade one (bonus point for the bow), and this wide stripe Beach Riot swimsuit.
I’m also tempted by this two-styles-in-one suit, this Lands’ End classic, and this one-shoulder suit under $40.
Spring Break Beach Vacation: Coverups
I love a good coverup. This was the star of the show last spring and summer- I hope it lasts forever! Here are some similar coverups… This long cotton shirt is under $25 and gives the same effect. Linen is always a good idea for hot weather and this Vitamin A oversized linen shirt has so many pretty color options. Of course, Ralph Lauren makes a long shirt as classy as it could possible be.
I also love a good top-bottom coverup. These eyelet shorts would be so easy and a little fancy-looking to pull over your swimsuit; they even have a matching top for a put-together look. I also appreciate a dress coverup in case a beach walk-turned-lunch situation presents itself. This muslin beach dress coverup looks easy and comfortable. This eyelet coverup is really pretty! I don’t own a sarong but they seem like a really good idea and are on my wishlist.

Spring Break Beach Vacation: Pants, Shorts & Tops
A quick walk into town or trip to the grocery store or straw market calls for a casual outfit. Let’s face it. All beach vacations call for all the casual outfits. (These could also spill over into the Coverup Category.) You know that I love my Cloth & Stone pants and that they go everywhere warm with me. Here are some options for you: this Cloth & Stone linen pant (J.Crew has a lot of good color options too!) A pinstripe wide leg seems like a fantastic idea. These patterned pants are super out there for me but could be fun! I like this set for when you want to be comfortable wandering around the resort or walking to coffee in the morning.
I love throwing on a good pair of shorts while on vacation/by the beach. Often times a pair of shorts with a t-shirt is all I need for my vacation activity. It is no secret that I am a Vuori fan, so I know that these shorts would be so comfy. As much as I would love to will it to be, I don’t think that butter yellow is my color, but maybe it could be in these flowy shorts?! (If not, there are plenty of other colors from which to choose.) As with the pants, this pattern may be pushing it for me, but the shorts do feel very vacation-y. For a more polished look, I would choose these shorts with a striped top.
A good t-shirt is a necessity for those days when you stayed out in the sun a tad too long; this is another good option. A linen long sleeve would be nice. A little ruffle adds some femininity. A basic tank is a pretty versatile choice to pack.
Spring Break Beach Vacation: Dresses & A Skirt
This category ranges from very casual to a bit fancier. Let’s start with the skirt since there is only one. I love this skirt because it could easily be dressed up by purchasing the matching top/ a white button down or dressed down by pairing it with a white t-shirt. (Oops, I lied. I actually had a lace skirt on my list as well. Same story as with the first skirt.)
I love this casual dress for a lunch, trip to the straw market, or a laid back happy hour. This is a lovely packable tunic because it can serve not only as a dress but a coverup as well (in my opinion). Easy, breezy and stylish, I love this shirt dress for spring and throughout the summer. This striped (it also comes in black) shirt dress is a great way to look casual but put together. The rickrack contrast trim on this maxi dress is really pretty; this is a great dress if you go into town and then stay for dinner. A polka dot dress is so cute and also perfect for a shopping/dinner trip!
This shift dress is at the top of my wishlist. Described as “equal parts polished and playful,” it would be great for a vacation dinner but then could easily transition with you back to real life/Easter/Mother’s Day/etc. I can’t decide if this dress is more Nantucket or Palm Springs- probably both which makes it even more worthy of your consideration. This navy and white stripe dress is both refined and relaxed, making it perfect for a nicer vacation night out. This chic rib knit dress would be another great dinner option. A fitted, A-line dress is just asking for a chic sort of situation. Flowy but fitted (as in you don’t show every curve but also don’t get swallowed up by it 😉 , I love the color and pattern of this maxi dress. I also love, LOVE the color of this crinkle ruffle-trim dress. This dress is delightful and would be perfect for an occasion vacation lunch/brunch situation (it gives Farm Rio vibes with a less expensive price tag).
Spring Break Beach Vacation: Sunglasses & Jewelry
Lightweight, polarized and tortoise shell, I love the look of these sunglasses. If you’ve been watching Love Story, you will know why these oval sunglasses are on the list; here is another oval option. I haven’t owned aviators in a while but the chocolate/dark brown combination from one of my favorite sunglasses brands make this pair tempting. Our daughter has sunglasses similar to these and they are so cute on her! I love a good cat eye pair of sunglasses; these get bonus points for the tortoise shell and name.
Spring Break Beach Vacations are great opportunities to explore fun jewelry like this disc pendant necklace. This pair of earrings is so unique and perfect for spring/summer! Big earrings just call for sun and fun. These are on the dainty side but still pretty distinctive.

Spring Break Beach Vacation: Footwear & Purses
I am very tempted by these big buckle sandals. They come in leather options as well as waterproof selections too. Elevate any outfit with these lace up espadrilles. The v-shaped topline and open toe take this shoe (and any outfit) to the next level. This is a nice pair of in-between platform wedges. A good mule is always on my list; this pair even has a Hawaiian-inspired woven pattern. I love the color and texture of these crochet-style sneakers– perfect for travel and while on vacation too!
Petite, polished and made of raffia, this purse is perfect for a stylish brunch or dinner. Another raffia option, is this lovely fold-over clutch. More casual but equally refined, this rattan purse is also a wonderful option.
Spring Break Beach Vacation: Hats & A Bandana
We made it to the final category- yay!! I haven’t worn a bandana in my life but they kept popping up and are growing on me 🙂 I could be convinced to give this coastal one a try.
I own and love this hat. I love the wider brim and dipped crown of this one too. Make no mistake, I love a baseball cap at the beach. This seersucker one feels beach ready. I have been known to borrow all of my family’s mesh-backed hats like this one.
Happy Vacation-ing!
Of course I’ll be adding this or this (or both) sweater(s) to my bag in case there is any chill to the air.
