Home Upgrades: Past & Future

This post is about a month late, but better late than never? Let’s go with that. Here are our Home Upgrades from 2025 and what is on the docket for 2026.

2025 Home Upgrades

Our daughter’s room was finished in 2025. In additional to the new bed and vanity, we added a soft rug and a new dresser.

Modern Organic Bedroom

Our living room received a new coffee table. It seems like it was made exactly for the space. Our living room is sort of magical (or my eyes are deceiving me?!) in that it can seem to handle oversized furniture and allows me to break design rules. We also replaced the accent chairs with boucle swivel chairs and they too seem like they were meant to be.

Cozy Autumn Living Room

Our kitchen got a fresh coat of paint in the same color (I still love it years and years later)… in a more wipeable paint. No excuses for dirty cabinets now I suppose.

Our primary bathroom was scheduled for a full remodel but then I decided that Italy was a better idea. So, we settled for a little facelift with new lighting and a new medicine cabinet/mirror. It really does make quite a big difference!

Our basement got a new paint color and a rearranged layout just as 2025 ended.

Vintage Basement Sofa

Oh, and R redid the old paint storage room and it now houses our ski equipment. It is super cute and has been used just about every day this winter.

We worked the least at the beach cabin in 2025 than in any year past. And it was wonderful! With busy teens, we aren’t as hunkered down at the cabin as we were when they were younger. It is a little sad but also makes us hit the beach asap when when we arrive to fully enjoy our time there. We did add a new bed frame and mattress in the guest room. I think that is it though?

2026 Project List

We don’t have any huge projects left at either our house or the beach cabin (knock on wood!). I’m sure we will continue tweak minor items. I would like to wallpaper the back staircase that goes from our kitchen to the home office (maybe myself even. Maybe.) I like this one (in all of the color options actually), but I’m not sure if it makes sense. This one makes sense but scares me. And this is a great one but a sample isn’t available.

In the primary bathroom, I would love to replace to pedestal sink with a vanity for even more storage. We are hoping for a few trips in 2026 with continued travel-inspiration. I guess we will just have to see how the year shapes up!

Have a great rest of January!
