Mackinaw Road: Five February Favorites

It’s true what everyone says. February is definitely the longest shortest month of the year. Hello and Welcome, March! Nonetheless, some fun things did happen in February.

February Favorites: Living Room Decor

Cozy Winter Living Room

I gave our living room a little February update. It was fun to make a reel over on my Instagram as the process unfolded. Here is the static version. I used mostly items I already had, but added a couple new vases, some faux stems, a few real flowers, and a pedestal. Crew was very curious and would not stay out of the photos. Despite my holding him back, he still managed to stick a paw or two into the pics.

I love how this small porcelain ribbed vase brings so much interest to the vignette.

It’s always amazing to me what a difference a few small changes can make. (Items are linked below. I also updated my Shop Our Home & Beach Cabin page.)

February Beach Cabin

February Lake Michigan

We headed out to the Beach Cabin to check on things after having our pipes unfrozen. The Lake never ceases to take my breath away.

A bunch of trees are being trimmed/taken down, which has me rethinking our exterior paint color choice. Having to consider the amount of sun our cottage will now get and thus the increased temperature inside is really raining on my dark exterior parade. You can check out some of the options we were considering in this post.

February Book

Speaking of the cabin, I recently finished The Summer Cottage. It is a fun read, especially if you happen to vacation or spend summers (or live) in the Saugatuck/Douglas/Fennville area. There are a lot of references to local spots and activities!

If a page-turning thriller is more your speed, The Family Upstairs was a very quick read.

February Cozy Clothes

Cozy Women's Slippers

February had me craving all kinds of coziness. Luckily, my mom knew exactly what would fit the (stylish) bill. These slippers are incredibly soft and warm and under $20. (Sadly, Crew finally got the best of my splurge slippers.) I couldn’t find the exact gray cable knit set but this top and these bottoms look very cozy too.

February Favorites: Family Game

Michigan Winter- Cross Country Skiing

We continued our attempt at family cross county skiing this year. It is so nice to get outside and be active despite the cold. As the story goes, some of us enjoyed it more than others. For indoor activities, we have really been enjoying this game. I think that it is great for visual spatial skills, planning, and strategizing. We also continue to work on sportsmanship- ha!

That’s all for now~ Happy almost March!
