A Modern Traditional Fall Table Setting

Hi and Welcome to Mackinaw Road! With the changing seasons, it is always fun to add some seasonal pieces into the mix. Keep reading for the story about how we ended up with this Modern Traditional Fall Table Setting.

Autumn Dining Table | Fall Dining Table | Dried Pampas

Well… this fall table setting has been about a month in the making. Mostly, because I just couldn’t make up my mind- haha! I took an poll over on Instagram Stories that I shared in last week’s post. It was a very close call, but the jewel tones won out! And I was fully prepared to go with the jewel tones. But then, the candles I had my eye on were sold out. And I loved how the deep blue-green looked with the black tapers. Done.

But then, I was no longer certain that the vase I was envisioning for the centerpiece would go with this new look. So, I grabbed my modern vase and dried pampas grass from the living room. (This combo had also spent some time in our entryway.) What a versatile vase and dried grass. I think that is works great in this space and love the height that the dried pampas grass adds since we don’t have ceiling lighting in this room. (As with all of the light switches in our house, there is one that appears to be unlinked to anything. Maybe there once was a chandelier in here?!)

To incorporate at least one more modern piece, I chose to set the table with our white square plates. Linen and cotton napkins tied in the natural and airy elements of the dried pampas grass.

Autumn Dining Table | Vintage Candle Holders

Because I apparently cannot set a table without some sort of sentiment, I happily displayed my Nana’s brass taper holders that my mom recently gave to me as part of our anniversary gift. They will have a place in our home from now until forever. I love them so much!

Also a nod to our anniversary are the wine glasses. These were given to us 15 years ago from our wedding registry. I usually go with the chunkier water goblets (they are a definite favorite of mine!) from both of my grandmothers but thought I’d change it up a bit this time.

I also adore how they help the new mirror to feel more at home in this room.

Fall Console Table | Dried Hydrangeas

I just can’t bring myself to get rid of these beautiful dried hydrangeas from our backyard yet and am even tempted to store them for next year. (That hydrangea bush is my favorite – it is incredibly low maintenance and first produces white blooms that then turn to a dusty pink. I have the white blooms displayed in the kitchen as you can see in this post.)

Fall Console Table | Marble Glass Cloche

And I love the marble and glass cloche. Perfection.

Fall Console Table | Geometric Object

The geometric object is something I’ve had for awhile now. I believe it was one of those Target runs that turned into a checkout with all the random pretty things.

So, in conclusion to this rambling mess of a post, I guess that both Instagram polling options were winners with the lighter colored modern pieces and the jewel toned tapers with the rich gold of the mirror and taper holders. Win-win.

Source List: There are a lot of “similar” items because I used a lot of what I’ve had for such a long time. Hopefully, this is still helpful!
