Friday Finds on Mackinaw Road: San Antonio, a Free Packing Printable, Butterflies, and Salamander Green

La Villita in San Antonio, Texas

Happy Friday! Last week at this time we were in warm and sunny San Antonio, Texas. Did you know that San Antonio is celebrating its 300th birthday this year?! This is the second city we’ve visited in the last 6 months that is celebrating 300. Maybe in addition to visiting as many Frank Lloyd Wright homes as possible (see this post if you missed it), I’ll also visit as many cities turning 300 in this coming year! More on San Antonio next week, including where to eat and what to do.

The weeks are flying by! One of my favorite “look forward to” in March is when the Butterflies come back to Fredrick Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Not only is it fascinating to see the colorful butterflies fluttering about, but I just love the warm humidity of the rainforest area as it helps to get us through March to Spring Break in April. If you are in the area, it is worth swinging by for an afternoon.

Kids Spring Break Packing Printable

Speaking of Spring Break, I created my first ever printable and am quite proud of it. I love a good list! Because of space and wanting to make it as straight forward and easy to read as possible, I kept it fairly basic. Depending on your kids, you may want to add sunglasses (mine typically like to bring them but won’t wear them… of course), a lovey (we will definitely be bringing our Hutch stuffies), and swimmies/life vest. For access, just click on the image above or right here. If you missed the post about Travel Clothes for Kids and want to check it out, click here. Planning to get away for a little R&R sans the kids this spring? Look for a free printable list for that coming next week as well.

 Green Bathroom progress
Beach Cabin progress

I’m not a terribly bold person but I’ve seen so many deep green walls floating around Pinterest and Instagram lately that I decided to branch out…. in the bathroom… at the Beach Cabin…on the lower level. Nothing really to lose. That said, I am loving how it is turning out. Stay tuned for adding cabin decor and some of the easiest and cost effective flooring in here, too. In the meantime, don’t forget to check out this post for another Inexpensive Flooring option and this one for a look at the Beach Cabin’s entryway plan.

That’s it for now— Hope you all have a great weekend!
