There is nothing like a steady stream of below-zero temperatures to bring about dreams of cozy interiors and warm fires. And really, what better place to hunker down for winter (or just a long weekend) than an A-frame cabin?
Surging in popularity in the mid-1950’s-1970s, A-frames are synonymous with “vacation home” due to their modern style, relatively affordable building prices, and ability to be adapted to allow for more interior creativity.
Here are the A-frames on my list to try:
Ashley Muir Bruhn’s Modern Tahoe A-Frame looks like just the place to hunker down for a long weekend or winter break in the woods. Located in Lake Tahoe, this fairytale-like setting is far enough away to feel relaxed but close enough to amenities to feel comfortable. A-frames and Lake Tahoe?! You really can’t go wrong here. Check out Ashley and the A-Frame’s Instagrams accounts for more photos of this beautiful setting.
A-Frame Mountain View Cabin in Flagstaff is a perfect spot to relax and take in the mountain views. Just 90 minutes from the Grand Canyon and dog-friendly, this seems like a great place to set up camp with the family and explore all of the natural beauty that the southwestern USA has to offer. Another fun fact? It was used in the American Eagle campaign. Check out their Instagram for more fun photos!
A-Frame Haus will catch your attention immediately. Situated near in Heber City, Utah, this seems like an ideal place to explore the outdoors and then sip hot chocolate inside the cozy and stylish a-frame. Visited recently by the McGee family from Studio McGee, I have a feeling this a-frame is a-mazing! Check out more on their Instagram account here.
If you up for an overseas flight, this cute A-frame in Iceland (Fossar Cabin) allows for all kinds of snowy views. Check out Bring on the Adventure’s Instagram account here to read what they had to say about it.
Don’t forget to check out Skyscanner here for flights!
